Well, not joy for the Liberal Democrats, more my joy at their expense…
Looking at the highly annoying all new Beeb website I spotted the results for the Lib Dems in London. They came third in the Mayoral elections, barely beat the Green candidate and perhaps amusing of all they only got their three seats on the London Assembly seat through the Top-up system.
Is this the new three party system which Lib Dem President Simon Hughes was proclaiming after their limp wristed 34 council seat gains last Thursday? I think not.
Perhaps someone could do one of those bar charts which the Lib Dems are forever putting out, pointing out that in this case - London - the Lib Dems can’t win and they are in fact not doing that much better than the Greens or BNP. I wonder how Nick Clegg and his groupies would have spun it if London did not have the top-up system…
