This evening Liverpool lost a football match to Chelsea, I don’t normally care as I am not a huge fan of football, I have always much preferred Cricket and Rugby (Union) to “the beautiful game”. However this game is different as two of my good friends I go to University with, hi Tim, hi Nathan, are now not going to shut up about it for at least a week.
Tim is the Liverpool supporter, although god knows why, he’s from Bradford. Nathan is a Parisian and an Arsenal fan. According to my father, Nathan actually has good grounds for supporting Arsenal, as the team is apparently full of Frenchmen.
Unfortunately the revilary between the two has forced a wager. Ever since, Tim has been banging on about how Liverpool are the greatest thing since sliced bread – looking at the Premier League table I can’t see how that is possible – and Nathan has just been championing Chelsea over Liverpool as, a) it will upset Tim and b) I suppose because Chelsea is closer to Paris than Liverpool is…
Anyway the point is I am going to be made to suffer until the next big football thing happens. I may just go plug into the TV and re-watch England squash the Australians in the 2003 Rugby World Cup Final.
