The sure sign of trouble for any politician is when he (or she) starts hiding from the general public. The Guardian have an interesting piece on DC and Gordon getting on the same train bound for the Principality of Wales. Brown apparently hopped on the same train bound for the west of Britain as DC was posing for some publicity shots, I daresay one of the PM’s adjutants got their arse tanned for that one.
On arriving in Wales DC set off for an out and about in the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff city centre (a beautiful city by the way, well worth a visit). The Prime Minister, meanwhile, was hiding out in a science museum in Swansea only allowing one cameraman, one reporter and one photographer to accompany his holiness.
Is this in response to the dreadful polls which have emerged this week with YouGov giving Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition an 18 point lead. Or is it simply that Gordon is sulking over the embarrassment of having to get down off his high horse over the 10 pence tax band row? Either one is possible, indeed it could be both. If it is both, then by god are we in for a mega-sulk from the PM.
